l'artiste captures an interpretation of beauty and form

Latest Painting27/05/2019

My work has comprised of all subjects, from the inanimate to living forms using a range of medium – pencil, pastel, acrylic and oil.   However, my passion has always been toward figurative and portrait works in oil. For me there is nothing more captivating than a living form and the most fascinating and beautiful are human beings.  I like to experiment with creating a vintage look, mainly using a variety of earth colours to give an appearance of an old sepia photograph. With this style of image I find notable figures in the music and film industry, past and present, make an ideal subject.  I enjoy working on more than one piece at a time – moving between paintings allows time to reflect and consider adjustments and drives my motivation to continue painting.

Like many children I started to draw as soon as I could hold a pencil. At secondary school Art was always my favorite subject; painting or drawing would help me relax and put me in a world of my own, filled with imagination and creativity.

The affair between the artist and his/her creation sometimes feels unfinished and the desire to go back and carry on where you left off is so tempting, letting go is always the hard bit. For me only the artist can truly be the judge or critic to his/her painting; beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but understanding belongs to the painter.  This is what makes a work of art  unique yet thought provoking.

My painting touches a variety of styles including realism, impressionism and a hint of pop art.

My work has been exhibited at Waterside Fine Art in Stratford upon Avon as well as local art festivals.

Most of my paintings are 9.5 inches x 12 inches and 12 inches x 16 inches.
